Christmas Parties
It’s time for festive fun
Christmas is a very special time of the year. It’s a time to spend with loved ones, family, friends and even work colleagues at the annual work Christmas party. It’s a time to let your hair down and pick up a glass or two of your favourite tipple, it’s the time to tuck into mince pies and mulled wine, roast dinners (or lunches), to wear silly Christmas hats and pull Christmas crackers – it’s a festive and fun time! Whether you are lucky enough to have a birthday close to Christmas and hopefully get double the number of presents, or whether it is celebrating a special wedding anniversary or even if it is the work Christmas party, Sopley Mill provides a romantic, festive and stunningly beautiful venue in which to celebrate. Roaring fireplaces, cosy couches and twinkly fairy lights all add to the ambience and nostalgic feel of the Mill.

Exclusive use venue for Christmas parties
You can decorate the Mill how you would like – and we think the more decorations, the merrier. Forests of christmas trees adorned with lights and decorations around the gardens, twinkly lights off every beam, candles and lanterns, mugs of mulled wine and gingerbread men on hand to take the chill out of the air. You might even get away with an elf or two!
Venue Details

The Garden
Ok – probably not that important at Christmas, but beautiful on a frosty night. As the night draws in (at around 4pm!) the lights come on. And even if we do say so ourselves, the lights at Sopley are stunning. Add in a twinkling 20 foot Christmas Tree, a few roasting chestnuts and this really is a winter wonderland.

The Ground Floor
The ground floor is made up of three individual, quirky rooms characterised by wooden beams and exposed brick work. The Holt has its own bar which can be used for your drinks or Thirsty Willow can run a Pay Bar there at any stage during your party. The next room contains the ground floor fireplace which is a wonderful place for drinks receptions. This space is also particularly good in the evening for older guests who want a cosy spot to sit and chat. Add in a Christmas Tree, twinkling lights and a Ho Ho Ho! and this really is a gorgeous spot for a light Eggnog or two.

The Granary
If you like dancing – and we mean really dancing, this is your place. A few mulled wines down and you will be throwing all sorts for funky festive shapes.
For evening parties there is a full-size bar (the Potting Shed) and a dance floor. Thirsty Willow can run a pay-bar from here, should you want it and We Perform (the DJ company we work with at the Mill) can provide DJ’s for your event. We welcome bands at the Mill, subject to certain sound restrictions, and they would also play in the Granary (please ask us for full details).

The Riverview Room
The Riverview Room, on the top floor of the Mill, is the ideal place for dining. The vaulted ceiling, beams, exposed brickwork and grain hatches in the floor give the history and character which makes it such a unique venue for your event.
The River View Room can fit 10 round tables of ten people per table. Alternatively you might prefer to have long tables or a buffet. For caterers there is a kitchen on the top floor of the Mill.
The Bars
Mulled wine, Eggnog (we are still not sure what that is, but it seems to be popular ‘across the pond’), hot chocolate – the world is your oyster. Thirsty Willow can organise your drinks for you and also run the pay-bars at the Mill.
We have two inside bars at the Mill. Our Potting Shed Bar in the Granary and we also have a bar on the ground floor in the Holt for reception drinks.

Parking
Nothing is more boring than hunting for a parking spaces or panicking that wardens will get there before you do. Here we have plenty of parking for all your guests. And they are more than welcome to leave their cars overnight.
